My weather station as been recording data since August 2012, so I put all the April data into Google Gemini AI and had it figure out some wind stats. Here is what it came up with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the recorded wind gusts and daily average speeds, <strong>2026<\/strong> was the windiest year for the month of April in Didsbury, Alberta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While both <strong>2015<\/strong> and <strong>2026<\/strong> share the record for the highest individual wind gust at <strong>80.5 km\/h<\/strong>, <strong>2026<\/strong> is the overall windiest due to its significantly higher sustained daily wind speeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Peak Wind Gusts by Year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The highest gusts (above 60 km\/h) recorded during the April period are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>2026:<\/strong> <strong>80.5 km\/h<\/strong> on April 24, with another major gust of 77.2 km\/h on the 23rd.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2015:<\/strong> <strong>80.5 km\/h<\/strong> on April 1.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2013, 2014, and 2016:<\/strong> All recorded peak gusts of <strong>69.2 km\/h<\/strong> (April 20, 2013; April 8, 2014; and April 5, 2016).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2020 and 2021:<\/strong> Both reached <strong>62.8 km\/h<\/strong> (April 25, 2020, and April 21, 2021).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2019 and 2022:<\/strong> Both reached <strong>61.2 km\/h<\/strong> (April 17, 2019, and April 9, 2022).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Highest Sustained Wind Speeds<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2026 stands out as having the most intense sustained wind activity. On April 24, 2026, the daily average wind speed reached <strong>38.8 km\/h<\/strong>, which is the highest recorded average in the dataset.
